The Tongue In Chinese Medicine
This video shows the significance of the tongue in Chinese medicine.
As a matter of fact, in traditional Chinese medicine, the tongue is divided into sections. Each section relates to the meridians and organ systems throughout the body. It is believed that the tongue can paint a picture of your overall health. Additionally, TCM practitioners would monitor the progress of treatment. They take the cue from a patient’s tongue colour, texture, shape, and visible spots.
For example, white patches in the tongue mean fungal infection. This can be a result of taking an oral medication. Some of which are known to throw off the balance of the bacteria in your mouth. Another thing you should watch out for is the “hair”. While hair can be a natural occurrence, food and bacteria can get caught in it. Normally, it can be scraped off through brushing or scraping. However, watch out for white patches that won’t be scraped off. It may be a sign of oral hairy leukoplakia. This is usually a symptom of Epstein-Barr or HIV.
Generally, any significant changes in your tongue should be monitored. There can be a wide range of possible changes to your tongue all with different outcomes.

Cupping Therapy Not Part of Biomedicine?
I received another question about cupping therapy not part of biomedicine.
That is actually true. Cupping therapy is indeed not a part of biomedicine. However,
cupping therapy is effective in treating or at the very least alleviating symptoms of
 many illnesses and diseases.
This form of alternative medicine helps people manage pain and reduce inflammation.
Cupping therapy also promotes blood flow, relaxation, and total wellbeing. In conclusion,
although cupping therapy is not part of biomedicine, it provides many health benefits.
And it should be appreciated and recognized as an effective holistic treatment option.

Is Cupping Therapy Dangerous?
In this video, we are going to answer the question “is cupping therapy dangerous?”.
Please know that in any treatment, there is always a certain risk associated with it.
However, in my experience as an acupuncturist, I have not known any adverse and
life-threatening side effects of cupping therapy.
In fact, the best thing about alternative medicine such as cupping or acupressure, and
acupuncture is that if it does not work, it will not work. They do not worsen the illness
or further compromise the health of a patient.

AMA Episode #7: Posture and Neck Pain
The video talks about how posture and neck pain are associated. So how does posture
 relates to neck pain?
Poor posture is one of the most common causes of neck pain. This stresses the cervical
spine and overloads the neck and back muscles. Over time, the accumulated stress
strains the muscles and ligaments that support the neck, resulting in neck pain or injury.
Meanwhile, the head-and-shoulders-forward posture is a great example of poor posture
that contributes to neck pain. This occurs when the neck slants forward, placing the
vhead in front of the shoulders. When this happens, extra weight is added to your spine.
In fact, for every inch your head shifts forwards, an extra 10 pounds is added to the
muscles in the upper back and neck. Similarly, a 5-inch forward shift results in 50
extra pounds of force! That is a lot of extra weight your neck and spine have to
carry! So remember to keep your chin tucked inward to avoid this.

The Pokey Stick: How to Do Acupressure?
The video provides tips on how to do acupressure and which tools to use. So what is the
 right way to do acupressure?
I have been getting a lot of comments and questions about the pokey stick I have been
using on my videos. And, I actually bought this in Thailand with my wife. However, in
acupressure, it does not really matter what tools you use. You can use a pen, a pencil or your
fingers. In fact, the best tool you can use is the one you are born with, your fingers. That is
because when you use your fingers, you can easily distinguish the right spot. Also, you have
direct control over how much pressure you apply. My best advice is to not focus on the tools to
use. Rather, focus on the sensations when doing acupressure. look for a dull, achy sore spot.
That is the indication that you are pressing the right spot. Then hold the pressure for 15 to
30 seconds. If you have more questions, let me know.
