RA or rheumatoid arthritis can lead to poor joint function and can severely affect the quality of life. In a US study, RA is expected to affect 78.4 million people by the year 2040. 27% of all arthritis patients complain to severe pain. It can also lead to severe anxiety and depression. Oftentimes, non-steroidal anti-inflammatory are prescribed. When that’s not working corticosteroids are prescribed and other opiates if the person is in severe pain. The problem with that is oftentimes, patience have gastrointestinal bleeding, ulcers that develop and other side effects that may happen. If you tried many things and are unable to get relief, acupuncture maybe an option for you. With acupuncture, sterilized hair thin needles are places either on the head or different parts of the body. This activates the body’s limbic system, which controls pain. Once the needles are places and slightly manipulated, patience are encouraged to move the affected area and promote local blood flow into the area. After some time you’ll be able to see a shift or change in the pain within 10 to 20 minutes of treatment. Thank you for watching this video.
